Times are pretty tough. Right about now, most folks could use a grin or two. Having watched the OCCUPY Movement and done some personal, onsite research regarding it, I realized those folks, too could really use a smile. They are trying to raise some seriously important issues and I wish them, er... "us", well. Lately I've also been inspired by some of the many quotations of Sir Buckley Wheatish as this one from 1796:
"The ability to laugh at one's self every day is the beginning of wisdom... or possibly dementia, I'm not sure."
And in 1899, when he was asked if he thought the fact that "the most important causes often suffer the greatest failure" was ironic, Sir Buckley Wheatish was the first to coin the famous phrase:
"Irony is the sincerest form of flattery."
And who can forget his enthusiastic, intuitive inquiry to Ignatious of Loyola when he formed the society of Jesus/Jesuits on August 15, 1534,
"Hey, Iggy! Could you maybe use a banjo player?"
Subsequently... I now bring you this: OCCUPY Gumbo.
